Developmental Education
The mission of developmental education at UAF is to make educational opportunity and success possible for all students by developing the skills necessary to achieve academic excellence and to develop lifelong learning skills. Our goal is to meet students where they are and give them the keys for opening the doors to wherever they want to go. The department serves to help underprepared students get ready for the rigors of obtaining an academic degree in higher education and feeds into all degree programs.
We offer courses in three major areas of study to help students along their path to higher education:
- Foundational level mathematics
- Foundational level writing
- Study skills and college skills courses
Descriptions of developmental education offerings are listed in the courses section under math, writing and developmental studies.
