Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  • Develop an increased understanding of Tribal Stewardship, including: Indigenous oral histories, languages, songs, dance, wild foods and plants harvesting and handling, arts and lifeways in community wellbeing and sustainability
  • Describe foundations, principles, goals, and history of Tribal Natural Resource Stewardship in Alaska and relationship to wellbeing
  • Describe State of Alaska and United States natural resources laws, regulations, and management systems impacting Tribal Stewardship in Alaska
  • Describe how, when, and where to participate in State of Alaska and United States management systems of fish and wildlife to promote traditional ways of life, including providing effective participation and testimony
  • Identify introductory concepts and tools in developing successful contemporary Tribal Natural Resource Stewardship programs in Alaska
