Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes are specific, measurable statements that define the knowledge and skills students will gain by the end of the program.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  • Effectively communicate the purpose, function, and governance of the tribal court.
  • Effectively communicate an understanding of the current extent of tribal jurisdiction in Alaska.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the role of tribal courts and tribal councils in adoptions, child custody and child protection.
  • Effectively communicate an understanding of Federal Indian Law, specifically it’s impact on tribal justice systems.
  • Effectively communicate the current picture of tribal jurisdiction in Alaska concerning community and domestic violence.
  • Effectively communicate examples of non-adversarial judicial theories in modern Alaska Tribal Courts.
