The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification review board has approved these courses to apply toward certification or recertification of substance abuse counselors in the State of Alaska.
Note: Students spend time in intensive study at selected delivery sites.
Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes are measurable statements that describe knowledge or skills achieved by students upon completion of the program.
Students graduating from this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and academic efficacy (critical thinking, computation, computer literacy, job-related work experience, interpersonal skills) necessary for entry-level human service professionals
- Be exposed to best practices in current and emerging topics within areas such as chemical dependency, behavioral health, case management, family and social issues
- Be well prepared for further study leading to an associate degree and/or be satisfactorily employed in a human services setting and/or providing services within their community
- Qualify/meet most of the qualifications for CDC I occupational endorsement and Behavioral Health Aide II certification
