Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes are specific, measurable statements that define the knowledge and skills students will gain by the end of the program.
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Identify children’s individual development in the various domains and anticipate emerging development
- Recognize multiple influences on development and children’s individual characteristics
- Create a physically and emotionally healthy environment for young children
- Know some characteristics of families and have basic skills in assisting children and families
- Use systematic observations, authentic documentation, reflection and other effective, ethical assessment strategies in a responsible way
- Establish a positive, authentic relationship with each child as the foundation for their work with children
- Reflect on their own practice to promote positive outcomes for each child
- Know and use the core concepts, inquiry tools and structures of content areas or academic disciplines
- Identify and involve themselves with the early childhood field
- Use NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct in conjunction with other professional standards to guide their practice
- Use technology effectively as a professional resource
- Have documented opportunities to observe and practice in at least two of the three early childhood age groups
- Have documented opportunities to promote development and learning in early childhood settings including at least one of the following: early school grades, child care centers and homes and Head Start programs
