Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  • Demonstrate intermediate ASL communication skills required to communicate one-on-one with members of the American Deaf community.
  • Demonstrate appropriate cultural norms that are practiced in Deaf culture. (Express empathy for the challenges experienced by the deaf and hard of hearing community)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the research in the linguistic structures of ASL and relate general linguistic concepts to American Sign Language
  • Demonstrate the communication, computation and human relations skills required for one-on-one communication in ASL
  • Demonstrate ASL fluency at an intermediate level
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the RID CPC
